Event Details

Not only did Dot achieve her goal, she quite literally wrote the book on doing so! We’re so inspired by her pioneering spirit, positive outlook and sheer tenacity. Traits which we hold dear in our own family history. We cannot think of a more apt guest to launch our series of reader events at Christy’s Book Nook.

Expect to be regaled with stories of the countries, people, traffic, corrupt borders, marriage proposals and potholes. As well as Dot’s firsthand experiences of Africa’s cultural history, its landscapes and the challenges she endured. As Christy says, this book is not only the tale of Dot’s geographic journey, but of one from self-negating depression to self-assurance and hope.

Inspired by the culinary references and favourites along Dot’s route, Chef Stacey has a serious treat in store – think mint tea with honey and date balls on arrival, flatbreads with avo & chickpea dip, chicken and chips, and baby chocolate croissants with coffee to finish. As you enjoy these dishes, Dot will share their significance.

For the full experience, including a signed copy of Dot’s book is R550 per person. Or without the book, it’s R250. Attendance is limited, so book your place now!
